Seniors
Senior Citizen Outreach Ministry

The first requirement in our starting a nursing home ministry is to have a genuine concern for the salvation of others, recognizing that you may be providing their last opportunity to hear the gospel. Our ministry time are every 1st & 3rd Friday of the month. Weekly visitations will be made by Pastor or one appointed by him in his absence.

Our Senior's outreach ministry is: Hanford Nursing & Rehabilitation Center; located at 1007 West Lacey Blvd., Hanford CA 93230. The Activities Director name is Denise Lopez. She can be reached at (559) 582-2871 Our meeting room is room 204, after walking in the facility, go left and the room is at the end of the hall on the left hand side. it’s a nice size to accommodate the needs.

Our service time will be from 6:00pm-7:00pm,usually it will be 30 to 45 minutes.

Being punctual is imperative, so arrive 5-10 minutes early and conclude on time. The staff will work with you, especially in gathering the residents when they know they can count on us being there.

Our order of service plans to include the following: Welcome, Prayer, hymn or chorus, object lesson, second hymn, words of exaltation, song and a brief bible study. We will use simple biblical themes for continuity. The gospel of John provides a clear presentation of Jesus and His ministry.

Be consistent. If you are unable to make a service, call Pastor and advise him ahead of time.

He most certainly do the same for you. Our drawing (dependency) on the Holy Spirit and our workers’ enthusiasm and genuine concern and interest in the residents will provide incentive for them to want to come.

What to Expect in a Nursing Home Atmosphere

Be a team player. Be a co-worker with the Activities Director and the staff who will gather the residents for the services.

Maintain a Christ like attitude – humble, helpful, courteous, joyful, etc.

Going by two’s allows one to “run interference”. The second team member can bring any residents’ physical needs or displays of uncontrolled mental or emotional behavior to the Activities Director/staff’s attention, if necessary.

Expect possible opposition and disturbances. For example, banging on the piano (if left open) or other objects, talking or yelling out loud, disagreeing with you, walking around during the services, etc. A smile, a prayer and tolerance go a long way. If other residents are disturbed, a staff member may be called to re-direct the person.
